Testimonials

Greetings of the Consul General of USA

Dear St. Petersburgers and guests of the city:
On behalf of the Consulate-General of the USA in St. Petersburg, I am pleased to present to you and to congratulate the participants, organizers, and guests of the Tenth International Festival "Barbershop Harmony".
We are very happy that Russians have begun to enjoy America's unique "Barbershop" style and that each year participation in the festival includes more regions.
This singing style has enjoyed a resurgence in popularity in the USA and has spread vastly throughout North America. We hope that these concerts, celebrations, and master classes will help the people of Russia and the US better understand one another and will engender in the performers and audience members feelings of warmth and mutual respect and interest. I wish you a successful festival.

Best Wishes,
Sheila Gwaltney
Consul General, USA
St. Petersburg, Russia

Greetings of the Deputy Minister of Culture of the Russian Federation

Dear colleagues and friends,

On behalf of the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation and myself personally I offer my cordial congratulations to all the participants, organizers and guests who have come together in the historic and cultural center of Russia, the hospitable and beautiful city of St. Petersburg for the anniversary Tenth International Choral Festival.

The Festival is a vivid testimony to the expansion and deepening of cultural cooperation between our two nations. It rightfully entered the roster of important cultural events of St. Petersburg. The Festival won wide recognition and support from the musical community and grateful audiences, it draws an ever increasing number of participants from both Russia and America.

The concerts, creative sessions and master-classes to be held within the framework of the Festival serve as a vivid manifestation of the fact that the song knows no borders, it brings people together, warms their hearts filling them with feelings of kindness and mutual respect.

I am deeply confident that the Festival will become a bright celebration of music art and your performances will be warmly received and deeply appreciated by gracious audiences.

I wish you creative accomplishments, cheerful mood, warm friendly meetings, happiness and well-being.

Alexander Golutva
Deputy Minister of Culture of the Russian Federation

You've done it again!!! The Fourth (Barbershop)Festival this year in St. Petersburg was a tremendous success.
Chuck Watson
Society President, 2000-2001

Never have I experienced such a wonderful culture as I have in Russia. The exquisite beauty of the art and architecture of St.Petersburg, the rich history of Russia, and the warm loving Russian people have made my trip incredible. I want to return to St.petersburg again soon!
Roger McGranahan.

An experience to treasure forever! The Russian people are warm and friendly - just like people from Nebraska. The audiences were enthusiastic and responsive. We could sing for Russian audiences forever! The cultural heritage of Russia is magnificent. I would like to come to Russia many times to learn more of its history and experience more of its art and music. The Children we sang for were also so beautiful and appreciative.Through their eyes, ears, and hearts we hope that our music will create a lasting bond of friendship between our nations.
